"Las Escritoras de Urras is a non-profit transmedia project that seeks to make accessible the works of female authors whose work has not yet reached Spain or is not yet widely known for various reasons. The podcast's name is inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin's The Dispossessed. In contrast to the anarchist society of Anarres, Urras perpetuates heteropatriarchal societies that render women's work invisible and undervalue it. Similarly, those of us involved in the realms of fantasy, science fiction, and horror have heard countless times that female writers of fantasy genres are a rarity or simply do not exist. We hope this podcast will serve as a catalyst for challenging these opinions, which, despite being outdated, have not disappeared from our lives. And that for those of us who already know that women write excellent science fiction, fantasy, and horror, it will help us discover new voices and new perspectives."
